Schoolwork, household chores and stress from age mates affect kids in such a way that they feel stressed and anxious. With the help of yoga kids can learn how to ward off stress and anxiety, and this can be done through a number of poses which can help kids get relief from such pressures. Yoga is beneficial for kids who are hyperactive as well as those with autism or cerebral palsy, and helps them control themselves even without an adult around to supervise them. Some of these poses are described below.
Child’s Pose

In this exercise, children are asked to sit on their heels and slowly bring their foreheads down to gently rest in front of their knees. Their arms should rest alongside their bodies as they slowly breathe in and out. They may also simply stretch out their arms as this will still achieve the same result. As they close their eyes, they will experience a sense of comfort and relaxation. It is an exercise that stretches the spine and shoulders and gives children a sense of self-care and shelter.
The Tree Pose

Children are asked to stand on one leg and bend their knees. They are then asked to place the soles of their feet on their inner thighs so that they might balance. Then they may sway like trees. This pose brings a sense of expansion and grounding. When children feel they are out of their bodies, this pose will bring back the correct feeling that their feet are on the ground and they are present in their bodies. It is a pose that requires balance, and generates confidence and focus. It can be a very empowering pose.
Downward facing Dog Pose

The children will be asked to place their palms flat on the ground after bending from an upright position. Their feet should step back so that they form a V in the upside down position with their buttocks reaching for the skies. Their legs should be straightened while their heads and necks are relaxed. They may leave a space between their legs. Then they may look between their legs. This is a pose through which the body can regain its energy after a tiresome day at school, and as the children get prepared to do their homework. It is a pose best done when the mind is clear and relaxed.
How kids can gain benefit from yoga..?

Yoga helps kids get better coordination and more flexibility in their bodies. Through the control the kids have on their minds and bodies, they develop better self-esteem. Certain poses will help them learn self-discipline, relaxation and stress control. Yoga sharpens the instincts and helps kids focus more clearly on their studies. It also causes them to eat better through better food choices. Their emotional responses are also developed and their immune systems strengthened. Through yoga, kids develop improved digestion, teamwork, compassion and leadership skills.
